I've been thinking lately about my life
About where I've been, where I'm at, and where I'm going
About the changes in my life that have made me a better man
And by grace, still a better man tomorrow

I'm a work in progress and I still make mistakes

And many times I've known the peace of His Presence
And more than once I've felt His chastisement
And there've been times I've wandered through the desert of despair
And through it all His grace has kept me going

Now I don't believe in chance, that I have to say
I do believe however in the grace of God
His light upon me, within me, shaping me to who I am
Its only by the grace of God that today I stand

And I believe His word is the word of life
That reveals His nature and lights a path for my feet
To lead me beside the waters still, and take me to the peak
